The Software Support Specialist position is responsible for managing, coordinating, and performing detailed IT policy and procedure compliance reviews/risk assessments, reviewing existing system functionality, reviewing proposed system software development efforts to ensure that Lottery systems and product offerings follow Lottery IT controls and IT best practices. The position is responsible for ensuring any identified risks are mitigated. This position reports to the Lottery IT Director. Due to the 24/7 operation of the casinos, some nights, weekends and holiday hours are required.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversight and management of existing IT security personnel resources.
2. Oversight and coordination of internal and external risk assessments to identify potential security threats over the Lottery and certain vendor systems to ensure the systems are secure and compliant with industry standards, applicable regulations, and Lottery requirements.
3. Ensure that the Lottery and certain vendor systems are compliant with established comprehensive policies and controls.
4. Oversight and monitoring of the Lottery systems to ensure that various entities are performing training on security policies so that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.
5. Position requires staying current and being part of the process of implementing software and related changes to the Lottery and certain vendor systems. This also includes determining the impact of proposed system software, hardware and/or other changes to ensure that existing security controls are not compromised.
6. Attaining a thorough understanding of products that run on the various systems from an IT security perspective to ensure that the integrity of the systems, software, and its stored data is maintained.
7. Oversight and monitoring of casino systems to ensure security breaches and/or risks are communicated to management so they can be addressed quickly and mitigated.
8. Monitoring compliance with state and federal laws regarding data privacy and security breaches.
9. Monitoring system access to ensure various systems have appropriate security measures in place for secure sensitive data.
10. Ensuring Lottery and certain vendor system compliance by creating security policies, procedures, and standards. Reviewing IT security training materials for casino employees and vendors.
11. Provide written assessments and status reports to the Lottery IT Director.
12. Creating a plan for compliance with industry regulations and standards such as ISO, HIPAA, SOX, FERPA, etc.

Required Qualifications for Appointment

EDUCATION:
Minimum of bachelor's degree (one-hundred twenty credits) in the field of Information Technology. Must be highly proficient in current IT security standards, testing, and controls.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant IT security work experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to work independently. IT experience in the gaming industry is a plus.
